ComponentArt Web.UI 2006.1 Beta 2 for ASP.NET (2006.1.1161)

ComponentArt is pleased to announce that the ComponentArt Web.UI 2006.1 Beta 2 release is available for download. With the Beta 2 release, Web.UI 2006.1 is now feature complete, and undergoing final testing for the full release.

This first release of Web.UI in 2006 includes two brand new controls - WebChart Lite and Splitter - as well as significant enhancements to existing controls, and support for the new features of ASP.NET 2.0!

The Web.UI 2006.1 Beta 2 release can be downloaded here. WebChart Lite is installed separately through the full WebChart for ASP.NET installer, and can be downloaded here.

Two New Controls

WebChart Lite for ASP.NET - adds charting capabilities to the Web.UI suite. WebChart Lite offers most of the features of the full WebChart control, but is limited to two-dimensional chart types and projections.

Splitter for ASP.NET - enables easy creation of interface layouts with resizable panels. Features of Splitter include: support for any table-like layout, ability to collapse and expand panes, pane scrolling, filling window width and height, ability to define (and switch between) multiple layouts, extensive server-side and client-side APIs, persisting state upon postback, and more.

Now Supporting Enhanced Features of ASP.NET 2.0

Offered as a separate download, ComponentArt Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET 2.0 is compiled against the .NET 2.0 Framework, and includes extensive support for ASP.NET 2.0-specific features. Please see the following announcement for full details: Significant Enhancements to Existing Controls

Extensive new functionality has been added to ComponentArt navigation controls, as well as Grid and CallBack controls with the 2006.1 release. Please see the following resources for full details: Beta Test Program

To participate in the Beta Test Program, simply login to your ComponentArt account, and select the "Subscribe to: Beta Test Program" option on the "My Account -> Edit Profile" page. All bug reports, questions and comments may be posted to the Web.UI 2006.1 Beta Forums.

License Keys for Subscription Customers

Customers with an active Web.UI Subscription License have already been assigned new license keys for Web.UI 2006.1. This license key can be accessed through the "My Account -> My License Keys" page of the ComponentArt website.

Planned Release Schedule and Upgrade Information

The full commercial release of Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET is scheduled for the week of March 6, 2006.

Customers with active Subscription licenses will receive the new version of Web.UI at no additional cost. Furthermore, current Subscription customers will also receive the new VS2005 version of the suite - Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET 2.0 - at no additional cost.

Upgrades to Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET and Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET 2.0 will be available to customers who purchased previous versions of Web.UI, with upgrade pricing to be announced upon release of the new version.

Starting today, customers who purchase new Subscription or Enterprise licenses will begin their annual subscription period the day Web.UI 2006.1 is released. Customers who purchase a Web.UI Developer license will receive an automatic upgrade to Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET or Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET 2.0 at no additional cost. There is therefore no benefit to delaying your purchase until Web.UI 2006.1 is released.
